WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE MUSICAL THEATRE TRACK:

Singing Classes

Throughout the workshop, you will work on:

  • Vocal Technique

  • Ensemble Singing

  • A variety of singing styles

  • How to choose the right song for your voice and expand your repertoire.

All of this is under the outstanding supervision of our incredible Vocal Coaches.

Acting Classes

Lead by our incredible Spirit acting faculty, in our acting classes you will cover:

  • Improvisation

  • Acting for Screen

  • Character Study

  • Script work.

We want to introduce you to as many skills and techniques as possible to prepare you for the industry.

Audition Technique - Acting and Singing

These audition-specific classes and mock audition sessions will provide you with:

  • Tips and tricks to build confidence in approaching any audition.

  • Help with choosing monologues.

  • Advice on song choices.

  • Encouragement to practice and perform in front of supportive classmates in the same position as you are.

  • Expert direction and support to be audition ready!

Dance Classes

Our dance classes will include both:

  • Musical Theatre Choreography

  • Ballet.

“Why do I need to do ballet on a Musical Theatre course?”

Believe it or not, all of the top Musical Colleges in London include ballet as a part of their training programmes.
This classical dance form is long considered the foundation of all dance, and an understanding of technical terms and movement is crucial for gaining entry to colleges, and a career in Musical Theatre.

This is what sets our Summer Intensive course above and beyond - we want to prepare you in the disciplines you’re most nervous about - including ballet!

Alongside this, you will also explore:

  • MT choreography from West End & Broadway musicals.

  • How to pick up combinations quickly and competitively.

  • How to overcome nerves.

Masterclasses, Workshops and Q&As

Our faculty are all industry professionals, but we understand that no person’s journey into this industry is the same - and the more people you speak to, the more of a rounded picture you get about the options available.

In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with Masterclass Teachers

  • Take part in exclusive workshops

  • PLUS parents will also be invited into a Q&A session with admissions officers, alumni and creatives who sit on the panels at auditions.

Ask all the questions yourself and find out everything you’ve been needing to know but previously haven’t had the right people to speak to!

Optional 1-1 Lesson

Performers are also able to book 30 min or 1-hour optional ‘add-on’ 1-1 lessons in singing, dancing and acting.
These sessions (held during lunch or after course hours) provide valuable one-to-one time with our industry professionals and are an excellent way to focus on a particular aspect of your individual development.

Optional 1-1 Recording

For those performers who wish to audition for agencies or go straight into the industry, we are able to provide a professional:

  • Vocal Reel

  • Dance Reel

  • or a Self Tape.

Please note, in these sessions, performers are expected to be 100% ready to record/film and the focus of the recording session is to capture the footage/audio. There will be no opportunity to improve technique or performance.

We recommend booking a ‘1-1 Lesson’ in advance of a ‘1-1 Recording.’
